Power Systems Engineer II - Dynamic Modeling

Overview

We are designing the grid of the future! Conduct power system studies which particularly relate to existing and future NERC and regional reliability standards. This position will have specific emphasis placed on generator modeling and protection setting coordination.

Responsibilities

How you can make an impact: Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Perform detailed bulk power system studies using various power system software such as PSCAD, PSS/e, TSAT, etc. Conduct IBR modeling: steady state, short circuit and dynamic in PSSE Perform various compliance technical assessment on IBR facility rating, protection coordination, ride through assessment. Process, generate and maintain data as required for other engineering related studies. Prepare technical study reports for all studies performed. Take responsibility for the timely completion of projects assigned while meeting all project quality and budget objectives. Identify training needs and present to the Senior Manager of NERC Compliance. Perform other duties as assigned. Identify training needs and present to the Engineering Manager as needed. Perform other duties, as assigned. Performance Criteria: Quality of the study/task completed. Efficiency in task completion (at or below budget). Meeting deadlines. Growth of technical capabilities. Qualifications & Skills: Proven knowledge of power system Proven team player with the ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships. Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, particularly with respect to explaining technical matters. Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem solving, and analytical skills. Capable of managing multiple tasks. Flexible with the ability to manage change. Have high standards in producing quality reports and products that he/she shall own with pride. Strong technical report writing skills.

Qualifications

Bring your passion, here's what’s needed: Bachelor’s degree in Electric Engineering with an emphasis in power systems 2 - 3 years of experience as a power systems engineer Experience performing power system impact studies such as Steady State, Short Circuit, and Dynamic Stability Experience with power systems software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, TSAT Lead the Change!
