The anticipated schedule for this vacancy is Tuesday through Friday from 6:30am – 5:00pm with a 30- minute unpaid lunch. Rotating weekend schedule will be required in the future. The schedule will be made at least 2-weeks in advance. Additionally, occasional on-call and holiday may be needed, as required by the hospital. Schedule is subject to change based on department needs. This position will serve as back-up to the Emergency and Critical Care Unit as needed. Key Job Responsibilities: Serves as a point of contact for animal owners and stakeholders providing information and answering questions Documents and disseminates results to the appropriate entities Completes routine laboratory tests and collects specimen according to established medical orders and care plans Maintains organization of and updates records related to medical procedures and billing Tracks supply inventory levels and places replenishment orders Assists with the execution of more complex animal care procedures and affiliated activities Monitors animal health status and records, notifies veterinarian when status changes, and ensures care plans are completed and recorded in the medical record Prepares, completes, and documents basic technical animal care procedures, assessments, and medication administration according to established care plans and medical necessity Department: School of Veterinary Medicine UW Veterinary Care Hospital Intermediate Care Ward (IMCW) Compensation: The starting hourly rate for the position is $22.00 (but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications). This position is eligible for a hiring bonus of 3-5% of base pay (prorated to FTE) which will be paid over the first year of employment!
